The preference "Remove message bodies older than x days" found
at Account Settings for New's Offline&Disk Space section can
not be checked. The text field for the number of days
can be changed and remembered but the checkbox itself is not
remembered.

I filed this bug orginally, bug 79561 but since that preference got
pulled from mail accounts, I neglected to check News accounts.

Currently the default behavior is that acts like it's not
been checked. So no messages get removed from your newsgroup.

verified, in both themes, you can check/uncheck the pref
"remove message bodies older than x days' and it will
be remembered the next time you visit that pref.
