(Whiteboard: [DENY])
On going to the passport.com homepage and clicking 'signup for your free
passport today' (
http://register.passport.com/default.asp?id=486&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Epassport%2Ecom%2FConsumer%2Fdefault%2Easp%3Flc%3D1033
) you are told:
Microsoft® Passport no longer supports the Web browser version you are using.
Please upgrade to a current Web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer
version 4.0 or later, or Netscape Navigator version 4.08 or later.
Note: This does not affect the rest of the site, just that page (or that was all
I found).
I'm not sure if this is a curse or a blessing.

I think it's time for an English: Microsoft component.
Going to their http://www.msnpeakperformance.com/ page and trying to sign in
gives this message:
Unfortunately, Microsoft® .NET Passport does not support the Web browsing
software you are using. Please use supported browsing software such as Microsoft
Internet Explorer version 4.0 or later, or Netscape Navigator versions 4.08-4.82.
If you use Netscape Navigator 6.1: due to possible data security issues, you
cannot currently access .NET Passport using Netscape Navigator 6.1. We take
security seriously and are working with Netscape to resolve these issues as soon
as possible so that .NET Passport can support Netscape Navigator 6.1. Until that
time, please use supported browsing software. We apologize for this
inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
---
Perhaps we should find out what exactly they mean by "data security issues"
Whoops. Just checked it using 0.9.5 and it does work. Forgot I was using
Netscape 6.1 when I was looking at the page. Is it possible they could use the
"security concerns" excuse and extend it to cover all of Mozilla?

at least recovering lost password in hotmail gives this in Mozilla 0.9.5 in win98
(Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:0.9.5) Gecko/20011011)
this can be a problem as many people use hotmail
does anyone know what is the problem claimed by M$?
does MS informed netscape about any problem?
is it real or is just plain FUD (the press/DOJ should know this...)

If you go to Hotmail and click on "Forgot your password?" link you get the same
message as in comment #3 ( http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97222#c3 )
Browsing MS sites I found the following information about MS .NET Passport :
-----
If you have questions regarding .NET Passport or this Privacy Statement, or if
you have a problem with a .NET Passport participating site, please send an
e-mail message to: passpriv@microsoft.com
To request a Service Agreement, send e-mail to our passcon alias:
passcon@microsoft.com
Q. Whom do I contact with developer-related questions or issues?
A. Send an e-mail message to msppsdk@microsoft.com.
Q. Whom do I contact with general issues or questions about .NET Passport?
A. Send an e-mail message to pinfo@microsoft.com.
-----
Perhaps someone could write a letter to some of this addresses asking about the
"Security issues" they mention.

P.S. - If you get "blocking" messages when using daily builds please verify the
problem exists on released software as MSN may choose not to support not
alpha/beta software.

Just FYI,
Passport.com is blocking access to build 2002032708 (0.9.9+) but is allowing
access to Netscape 6.2 (whose UA contains the string Netscape6/6.2)
Might be worth reopening this bug, or opening a tracking bug for passport.com to
prevent dupes.

Susie,
Microsoft Passport site is blocking Mozilla 1.0 as well as Nightly builds. I

ok sorry for the spam: I should have said this bug referred to the old issue.
The current blocking is being tracked in bug 141279. So please don't add to this
bug anymore.
