Yep, it's not likely this is Catalina bug. Instead, it's triggered when new windows are opened. This includes modal windows which is why people are reporting that it's triggered by opening the About modal. Kohei, my changeset that caused the crashes tracked in bug 1587351 landed yesterday evening so it may have simply been that it happened to coincide with your Catalina update.
