What do you mean with "manual resize"? What actual bug is motivating the code changes here? And since when does that bug exist? I'm asking, because Bug 1604409 was caused merely by a mis-placed `this` in a single code line in a single caller (only in one case, the other `this` were working fine). But the patch re-wrote the function *implementation* as well, although the bug was in the caller. So, I cannot tell anymore whether the problems you describe have been there before or are a regression from Bug 1604409. Both is possible. That's why I'm asking.
