Recent bad update to what from what? Thunderbird? The current mainstream release is 68.11.0. Check Help > Troubleshooting Information for the version. It depends on what account I am composing from as to what address appears in the To: field when I click "Write". It is that accounts address. No address book has ever appeared. I can open the composition dialog using "Write". Select View > Contacts Sidebar, or just press the F9 function key. Select "Personal Address Book" in the list. Select an address from the "Personal Address Book". Click the "Add to To:" button. Compose a message. Send the message. Open the composition dialog again and "Personal Address Book" is still selected. Still selected if I quit and restart Thunderbird and compose a new message from any account. Can you give more detailed steps to follow?
