I can reproduce with 78.12.0 using the Adwaita-dark theme when switching from the TB dark theme to the default.

Using 91.0b1, the switch briefly flashes white, then returns to the proper default theme.

Switching from the TB light theme, back to the TB default theme, remains light for me with 91.0b1.
