This or related bugs have been reported more frequently since about 91.*. 

Would it be possible to extend the safe-mode so that it (optionally) deletes all cache files related to updates?

It's always difficult to explain to normal people which files in which path they need to delete in order to fix the problem manually.

I'm wondering, how often this bug occurs in Firefox versus Thunderbird?
