I completely understand about high contrast i typically use it as well. unfourtanitly the way high contrast works is the colors are provided by the operating system we do not control the colors other wise the toggle would work. It comes to us as you having chosen to force this color pallet on us so we must use it. This is throughout the application and not specific to any given area. By contrast (no pun intended) when the OS sends us the information that you want dark mode this is a theme we still choose the colors and color pallet, but with the understanding you have said you want dark color pallet.
