Geoff,
Since you only have access to the mercurial repo, you don't need any other password (you've been told probably about the LDAP one) or credentials. Simply use your ssh key and its passphrase.

Yes - while access to Hg doesn't require a password, there are other services that require LDAP PW auth (like the build self-serve tool), and level 1 committers are entitled to using those. Just needs an LDAP password reset.
