I want to limit the number of bookmark backups to 4. How can I do this?

Steps to reproduce:
Set browser.bookmarks.max_backups to 4.
Actual results:
It does not respect this value. 5th + backup bookmarks are not deleted.

Expected results:
One the creation of the daily bookmark backup the 5th + are not deleted.

this should be verified on Firefox 30+, the code pretty much changed there.
O.K., I may have spoken too soon. I had decided to let the backup bookmarks "build up" to see where, and if, they would stop. Yesterday, FF 28 had built up to 5. Today, however, instead of having 6, it deleted the 5th and currently I have 4 bookmark backups. Hmmm...
