Details

When you type an URL in the URL bar and press enter, Mozilla should go to the
URL that you typed no matter where the mouse cursor is. The current behavior is
that if the mouse cursor is positioned over the search link ("Search [search
engine] for [typed text]"), Mozilla will go to the search engine when you press
enter. It should only go to the search engine if you click the search link or
select it with the arrow keys before pressing enter.
I agree with you, but this problem has already been reported in bug 79069
