For initial optimization process, Adam suggests designing four variations of the homepage that look as different as possible.

This traffic will be from mozilla.org so we can test what works and then optimize further.

I've tweaked the title a little as "variations of the homepage" might limit design ideas. 

In particular, one of the most effective elements of a landing page design is often (but not always) removing general navigation to focus the user on the call to action.

We should also state the goal of this landing page(s) to help with the design:

* Double the percentage of traffic arriving on webmaker.org from mozilla.org that creates an account. (from ~3% to 6%).

The design work is slotted for next week, week of May 19. Aki, Adam, Andrea, Brett & I met this morning and discussed some things, notes here: https://etherpad.mozilla.org/landing-pages

Next step, we are looking to Andrea to find out specific dates we need to be aware of as well as whether or not we can get a 48 hour testing window for the snippet, which will determine which landing page we will do first.

I am adjusting the title of this bug to reflect new scope.... I'll file smaller bugs when we have a clearer idea of which landing pages we are designing first.
