Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:31.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/31.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140502004003

Steps to reproduce:

I have google as my default search engine. Not just google, but I changed the default string to https://www.google.com/ncr in FFdir\browser\searchplugins\google.xml, so I could get search results in English after pressing Ctrl-K and entering a search query.

Actual results:

After upgrading to Aurora 31, Ctrl-K no longer loads the https://www.google.com/ncr page, but results in some weird home screen that I have no intention to observe.
There is, however, a google search bar in this screen but it won't return English results if I'm outside the US.

Expected results:

Ctrl-K should open the https://www.google.com/ncr page, specified in google.xml
I can see this address in search.json, but it is totally ignored.
Blocks: 940685
Component: Untriaged → Search
Summary: Ctrl-K no longer works properly in Aurora 31 → Ctrl-K (when the search bar isn't visible) should open the defined home page instead of about:home
As this was deliberately changed in bug 940685, I guess the only thing that we are likely to change here is adding an option for changing it in bug 993792, so I'm duping there.
