Details
1. Start apprunner (this gets www.mozilla.org)
2. Click 'Our mission' (this gets www.mozilla.org/mission.html)
3. Click 'Back'-button (or top banner 'Mozilla.org')
4. Result: no page-refresh, DOS-window gives 'error loading URL'
BUT if I do DEL Cache in another DOS-window before 3. all goes well
All this is M8 'out-of-the-box' on a sound W'98 system (on FAT32).
Also see 6967 (maybe change M8 to M9 in the Most Frequent Buglist)
Also see 9004 (searching bugzilla takes some practice)
The 1999071808 build mostly crashes with a page-fault when I delete the cache
(intending to enable the back-button). I saw that the crash happened after
writing to the cache the first 8K of the html-page for www.mozilla.org. M8 does
not crash.
I don't know if it is related, but the cache does not work for .gif files:
With 'about:cache?traceon' I see many times recurring (on www.mozilla.com):
Alert: URL not found in cache: file:///D|/MOZ/19990718/res/throbber/anim.gif
(this is the cute little animal in the navigation toolbar, my directory is OK).
This is one time for every cycle of the animated gif (until the page is loaded).
Other .gif files are also repeated this way.
'about:memory-cache' gives no files; 'about:image-cache' is not found
Build 1999072116 has NO cache, and the bug is gone (for now).
