User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20140428193838 Steps to reproduce: I had Firefox 28 installed on 3 machines running Win7, OS X 10.9 and Ubuntu 12.04.4, and an Android device. Sync was configured and working (syncing history, bookmarks and passwords accross all 3 devices), actually Sync has been running reliably since ages (I was one of the early adopter). What I did is I upgraded all machines to Firefox 29. I did not do any other changes. I continued using internet, modifying bookmarks, etc. Note: I did not changed to the new Sync Account, at least I did not create a FF Account. Actual results: And since then bookmarks and history are still syncing, but I found out yesterday that passwords are not synced anymore. I changed a password in FF 29 on Win7, and even after forecing a successfull sync in OS X and Ubuntu I don't see the new updated password, whereas bookmarks and history have been correctly updated. Expected results: Sync should have still worked for all data I am syncing, including password.
Interesting. Although you upgraded to Fx29, you are actually still syncing your devices using your Fx28 account. At least that is what I see in your logs. Did you actually go through the process of creating a Firefox Account? Did you then go through the process of unlinking then reattaching your devices to use Firefox Accounts with Sync?
Actually never mind that last bit, I just re-read and caught this: "Note: I did not changed to the new Sync Account, at least I did not create a FF Account."
OK, so I am running Beta (Fx30) using an old profile with an old sync account, passwords checked for syncing. I did some initial sync, then saved/unsaved/changed passwords and synced again. I can not duplicate this issue. I also opened an old profile/account with Fx29 (passwords checked for syncing) and I can not duplicate this bug. I added a couple Sync devs to look at your log and see if they can determine what is happening.
Have you checked in preferences > Sync to make sure that the Passwords checkbox hasn't been unchecked for some reason?
The failure I see in that log is that history sync is hanging. Passwords sync after history, so if history sync never completes (successfully or unsuccessfully), your password changes will never sync. If you need to get moving, try unchecking History, completing a sync on each device, then re-checking History.
Well well well... A few hours after posting that bug report, I decide to switch my Windows Firefox to the new Firefox account for Sync. So now my Windows and Android Firefox are syncing correctly data between them, apart from passwords because I am using a master password (sigh!). Strangely, today I thought I should finally switch my Mac to the new Firefox Account, so at least bookmarks and history are still synching. And I found out that my changed password was finally synched to my Mac too (the one I initially modified under Windows and that would not synced). It is a pity, I had a sync glitch (and not bug) which made me move to the new sync and I lost what I wanted to solve: password synchronisation. Why? Because I am using a master password, and I am not going to trade that off.
I'm having a similar issue with password sync not working that has only recently occured now that I have uninstalled my Aurora 30 instance and installed the current FireFox 29 on both my Windows 7 and Ubuntu computers. Previously I had FF 29 running on Win7 and Aurora 30 running on Linux and both were syncing perfectly (bookmarks, add-ons, passwords). After the Linux downgrade to FF 29 everythign syncs except my passwords and the Win7 FF 29 instance now has a constantly spinning sync button.
Passwords not syncing if you have a master password in the NEW sync (i.e. Firefox Account) is bug 995268. This bug report started out as a problem using OLD sync in Firefox 29 (where both versions of sync are supported under the hood). If this bug has morphed to be about the new Firefox Account master password/password sync issue we should just dupe it. Is it worth leaving the bug open to pursue your original problem with the old sync?
I do not have a master password right now on either of my firefox instances (although I'd like to eventually), but still have the spinning sync icon on my win7 instance and spinner + no passwords on my Ubuntu instance. Is this the right bug for this issue?
(In reply to lattatude from comment #9) > Is this the right bug for this issue? Looks like the same behavior as Comment 5. Try unchecking History in Prefs, see if your passwords sync.
(In reply to Richard Newman [:rnewman] from comment #10) > Try unchecking History in Prefs, see if your passwords sync. Didn't seem to change anything, still no passwords sync, sync button keeps spinning both on Ubuntu and Win7

Might be bookmarks: Bug 1006360.
I tried disconnecting all my browsers on all computers and devices, uninstalling the software, then deleting my Firefox account. Re-installed the browsers, re-created a new Firefox account and started syncing with only passwords and bookmarks set to sync... but same issue; constantly spinning sync icon on my Ubuntu and Win7 FF browsers. I haven't tried syncing on my mobile devices yet. So I've completely started over like a new user, but same issue. :(

Can we get sync logs from these most recent attempts? Also, I understand it is a PITA, but can you try some of those engines one at a time - hopefully we will find at least *some* engines complete and can identify exactly which ones are failing...

From fresh Linux FF 29 install. After sync only passwords, it didn't sync. Also, my Win7 FF29, on which the sync is always spinning, only on bookmarks or only on passwords sync configs... it hasn't generated any new log entries since I disconnected, then reconnected.

Without changing anything that I know of, my passwords and add-ons have starting syncing between all my FF instances on all my divices. Now, If I add bookmarks to my sync, I get the constant spinning. I do have many bookmarks, but my bookmarks backup file is only 594.3 KB. As far as the logs go, I'm still not seeing any updated log entries when I have this trouble syncing something, including the bookmarks issue now. It's as if when the sync icon never stops, it never writes to sync-logs or something

If you can, it would be great if you can test Aurora or Nightly - we fixed an issue that may explain this there. > As far as the logs go, I'm still not seeing any updated log entries when I > have this trouble syncing something, including the bookmarks issue now. > It's as if when the sync icon never stops, it never writes to sync-logs or > something Sync writes them on completion - which is seems you never hit. You should hopefully find that after a restart the logs from the previously never-completed sync will exist.
dupe of bug 1013064?
(In reply to YF (Yang) from comment #19) > dupe of bug 1013064? I don't think so - in this bug passwords were enabled but seemed to never complete. Before bug 1013064 it was impossible to enable password.
