The jank is likely caused by images being GC'd as you scroll. Picasso doesn't really do anything in terms of tracking user interaction with things like ListViews to figure out whether or not it makes sense to load images while scrolling, for example. This is being discussed here: https://github.com/square/picasso/pull/561
