Details

build 2001092103
Context menu on links in preview message pane and standalone message window
include a "File Bookmark for Link..." option. This option actually works like
Add Bookmark (no dialog appearing).
I can't speak for mail messages, but in browser, the context menu works as
expected for me (2001092208 on Win2k).
Agree, the problem is in Mail & News only.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. From mailer, View an email message that has a URL link in body.
2. Click right on the link for the context menu
3. Click "File Bookmark for link..."

Actual Results: The bookmark is silently added to default bookmark list, like
"add bookmark" in the browser bookmark menu.

Expected Results: The "File Bookmark"(*) dialog (which enables users to choose
where to file the bookmark among their bookmark folders) should appear.

Summoning the file bookmark dialog is consistent with:
o The "File Bookmark" command in the "Bookmarks" menu of the browser.
o The "File Bookmark for link" command in the context menu that appears when you
click right on a link in the browser.

(* BTW, this dialog is titled "Add Bookmark", which may be slightly confusing in
the context of this discussion, as it is summoned by the "File Bookmark" commands.)

Bug suggestions:

This bug didn't turn up in my original search for "File Bookmark for Link" from
the submit bug page.

1. Suggest confirming this bug.

2. Suggest changing title to

"File Bookmark for Link" in mail context menu acts link "Add Bookmark"

to make clearer this is specific to mailer context menu's "File bookmark for
Link" command.

I did this earlier. This is a weird situation but it was reproduceable:

Bookmark a page with "Add Bookmark" (realize you goof and should have filed it)
Bookmark same page with "File Bookmark"

Open up "Manage Bookmarks" to delete the first goof. Click on the link *not* in
a file and delete it. Here's the bug:

It appears that one in the file is deleted and not the one clicked on. If you
checked the bookmarks again, you'll notice it worked right but for a little
while it's skewed - it shows the one that was deleted as not being deleted, and
the one that was not deleted as deleted.
In Mail/News, the link context menu now has only "Bookmark This Link". It works
as I would expect, and as "File Bookmark for Link..." reportedly used to.
adding the bookmark to the end of the toplevel list, just as the same item in
the browser's context menu for links does.

I don't see an inconsistency here any longer. Marking WFM.
Reopen this if I'm wrong.
