User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20140506152807 Steps to reproduce: OS : linux - kernel 3.14 Firefox 28 to 29.1 (probably 27 too) and seamonkey 2.25 and 2.26. (the 2 latest versions) Using the 3 latest version of flash player (11.2.202.359, 356 and the previous one) I have often several navigator windows with flash objects (pinned tabs of TV replay sites). It is easy to have a freezes when opening a new [tabbed] page with a flash video. Maybe after some use of firefox. Sometimes when firefox restarts after a freeze it freezes again immediatly. You can try on this site : http://pluzz.francetv.fr/ Clic on the calendar to see a TV replay. Open 2-3 videos in tabbed windows. Maybe it arrives when I switch during the load of a video and open a new one ? Often it does not crash when I read a video. It is when I seach what video to look : so I go from one tab to another and I open videos to quick see if they are interesting. I hope this will help to reproduce... Actual results: firefox and seamonkey freeze and have to be closed / killed. When I run "firefox 1>f1.txt 2>f2.txt " I often obtain : ###!!! [Child][MessageChannel::InterruptCall] Error: Channel error: cannot send/recv ###!!! [Child][MessageChannel::Call] Error: Channel error: cannot send/recv [10730] ###!!! 1- In /var/log/messages I have these messages for a long time (when the plugin crashes) : Linux kernel: plugin-containe[7461]: segfault at 0 ip b3bdb087 sp bf9e1d60 error 6 in libmozalloc.so[b3bda000+2000] Since March 20, I have also these messages : Linux kernel: plugin-containe[2412]: segfault at 0 ip (null) sp bfa14abc error 4 in plugin-container[8048000+1e000] 2- To reproduce maybe (?) it is easier when opening a new window with flash than a new tabbed window...
1- I have a new message in /var/log/messages when some freezes occur. It seems since *firefox 30*. Samples : Jun 13 21:11:41 Linux kernel: Chrome_ChildThr[2044]: segfault at 0 ip b3c0c425 sp b1a52ac0 error 6 in libmozalloc.so[b3c0b000+2000] 2- The problem comes from firefox : I tried earlier versions of flash plugin (from the latest 11.2.202.378 to 11.2.202.310 i.e. 9 versions !). I had no problem with the old versions.
I have no more freeze since my last message. I compiled a new kernel (3.15) at this same date (2014.06.15) : can this be related ? I now use firefox 31.0 and seamonkey 2.26.1 without problem. I still have messages in /var/log/messages but very few compared to before 2014.06.15. And I have no freeze and no problem from the end-user point of view. So I think it is resolved...
Resolving as wont fix, plugin support deprecated in Firefox 85.
