In mailnews, the Go menu has submenus for "Next"
(Next > Message, etc.) and "Previous". This seems
a bit excessive. There's a total of only 8 menuitems
under "Go", so there's plenty of room to simply list them.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open mailnews
2. Look at the Go menu
Actual Results: Even simple things like "Go to next message" are in
a submenu.
Expected Results: Is there a reason to use a submenu? If not, just use a
single menu.
I looked for the UI spec, but couldn't find anything (even
obsolete) for Mailnews. Is there such a beast?
I see NS4.7 had more items in this menu. Are these planned for
a future version of Mozilla, or did they get dropped? (FWIW,
I count a total of 13 menuitems in NS4.7's Go menu, which is the
same as Mozilla's mailnews Edit menu, and fewer than its File
menu.)
Mail menu spec can be found here:
http://www.mozilla.org/mailnews/specs/threepane/MailMenus.html
I believe the plan is to eventually add the additional menu items that 4.x had
to the existing Go menu.
Bug 89825 also debates whether a separate Go menu should exist at all.

Also, for accessibility, the Go menu should allow access to each folder, in case
you have the folder pane turned off.

Marking these all WORKSFORME sorry about lack of response but were very
overloaded here. Only reopen the bug if you can reproduce with the following steps:
1) Download the latest nightly (or 0.9.6 which should be out RSN)
2) Create a new profile
3) test the bug again
If it still occurs go ahead and reopen the bug. Again sorry about no response
were quite overloaded here and understaffed.

I have a strange feeling that comment #3 is not related to this bug. Sorry, in
case I am mistaken.
I don't see a response to comments #3,4.
I reopen this. Then, if no object, mark it as duplicate.
Probably it is better to have one record for this debate: Bug 89825.
Status: RESOLVED → UNCONFIRMED
Resolution: WORKSFORME → ---
Bug 89825 is about Browser menus.
This one for Mail 3-pane.
Current implementation is done according to the current Spec.
I change severity from Trivial to Enhancement for further decision or design change.
Severity: trivial → enhancement

This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but has been without a comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project. This means that it was logged against the old Mozilla suite and we cannot determine that it's still valid for the current SeaMonkey suite. Because of this, we are setting it to an UNCONFIRMED state.
If you can confirm that this report still applies to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it back to the NEW state along with a comment on how you reproduced it on what Build ID, or if it's an enhancement request, why it's still worth implementing and in what way.
If you can confirm that the report doesn't apply to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it to the appropriate RESOLVED state (WORKSFORME, INVALID, WONTFIX, or similar).
If no action happens within the next few months, we move this bug report to an EXPIRED state.
