I created an event no problem -- see here: https://events.webmaker.org/#!/events/3377 But it doesn't show up under Upcoming Events (looking for it on September 30) I'm logged in with my mozilla persona account. Using FF 30.
I'm able to reproduce this locally now, but don't know the cause of that yet. I will dig into this further and coordinate with cade tomorrow morning.

Can you guys update this morning just to let us know where we're at?
I haven't been able to hit this on my local machine yet, but I do see it when I create a test event on staging/prod
