Details

The Contacts API is implemented for Android (bug 857730), but is not enabled presumably due to permission issues. We need to find a way to resolve that and get it turned on for web apps.

From our meeting earlier I think it was agreed that Fennec was going to take this contact permission request

From a conversation with mfinkle it seems that this isn't going to be done given https://bugzil.la/1037128 and specifically https://bug1037128.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=8454034

Nightly should already support Contacts API in webapps. Can you test this out? I wonder if James was thinking of Webapps or Webpages when he filed this bug.

I think I actually was thinking about web content, but maybe that's not such a good idea given the fallout from accidentally enabling it.
