This bug was filled based on the discussion from bug 1013904 comment 23. Reproducible on the latest Nightly (BuildID: 20140603030220) Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:32.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/32.0 Steps to reproduce: 1. Open about:preferences. 2. Select the name (text) of a Tab from the left side of page (e.g: Security). Actual results: The name (text) of the Tab is correctly selected and the Tab (Security) opens (even if you want maybe only to copy the name of this tab, not to move on it). e.g: I'm on General Tab; I select the text "Security" from the left side of page -> The Security tab is displayed, instead of General Tab which I was previously Expected results: The name (text) of the Tab from the left side of page is correctly selected and the Tab (Security) doesn't open. Notes: This bug is also reproducible on Mac OSX and Ubuntu 13.10.

This is a regression from the preferences window, which only switches categories on "click"

This isn't something that we need to worry about supporting. Both the add-ons manager and browser tabs don't allow this (they switch on mousedown too).
