If Mozilla Mail has been selected to be the default email client, the user
should not have the option to deselect us and default email client from within
Mozilla. That pref should be disabled. If the user wishes to us Outlook Express
(or whatever) to be the default email client, then they should open that app and
make the selection from that client. This is how Outlook Express works when it
is not the default.

Is this a requirement for this drop of Partial Simple MAPI (Bug 102382). If it
is, it needs to be marked nsbranch+.
Summary: Simple MAPI: Pref for Moz mail default should be disabled if Moz is currently the default. → Simple MAPI: Pref for Moz mail default should be disabled if Moz is currently the default

Although I agree we should do similiar to what other messaging apps do. However
providing this Preference to de-select us as the default mail client can be
useful for those users who want their original messaging apps to work, specially
Outlook. We had lot of support calls since Outlook doesnot work if it does not
find its 'mapi32.dll' ! So in case if Outlook was the default mail client before
we made Mozilla as the default, this feature / Preference of de-selecting
Mozilla as default will copy back Outlook's mapi32.dll and registry key setting.
The change proposed in this bug is debatable and might not be beneficial.
We will not be looking into this for this release of Partial Simple MAPI. So
this does not need nsbranch+.

I agree with Dayal - I don't think this is a good idea. Because Outlook/express
is so dumb that it can't launch unless it finds it's own/compatible mapi32.dll,
this feature will make it impossible for the average user to be able to switch
back to Outlook and it's variants.

I agree with Rajiv on this. Jennifer what's your opinion on this.
Moving milestone to mozilla 0.9.9.
Target Milestone: mozilla0.9.8 → mozilla0.9.9
I agree also. Disabling a checked preference setting is not a good UI. User can
see the pref and its checked, but its disabled so they can't do a thing with it.
