Follow-up from bug 1022713, this will provide a nice performance boost to homescreen edit mode.

Playing around a bit more, I can reproduce some odd behaviour with sections - I don't know whether they're regressions (though they probably are) - I'll take a look on Monday and see about writing more tests to catch them too.
This is basically the last thing that we want to land (and the visiblity fixes if necessary, though I would like to see before/after profiles for that). Let's just track this in the parent bug, bug 1022713.
