Steps to reproduce:

Run the attached HTML.
This displays a map with two markers.
Hover over each marker - sometimes it displays sometimes it does not.
This works correctly in all other major browsers, that is, without adjusting the screen, you can hover over each marker and it will display the description (in other browsers).

Do this repeatedly - it works best when you move mouse from lower right of marker (south-east) and move it towards the center until the finger pointer appears. At this point a description should pop up every time.

Actual results:

Does not consistently display the popup description on the markers everytime you hover over the marker. You have to struggle with it until eventually it does it. It should do it every time the pointer turns to a finger.

Expected results:

When you hover over each marker it will display a description.
By a quick check this regressed within Firefox 10 <-> 17 (used ESR).
On current Mac tip, I see the issue even if I back out bug 716793...
And I can't seem to manage to compile a Linux build from back then.

But I do think I see a regression on Mac nightlies consistent with comment 2, and bug 716793 _does_ feel somewhat plausible as something that could affect behavior here...
Alright, I managed to do a Linux build. I see the buggy behavior on rev 0dbdc8243364 there.
Reproduced with nightly 48.0a1. The pop-up description does not always appear when the mouse pointer turns to finger.
