Details
I have a MacBook Pro with a touchpad, running Fedora.
If I do a fast, two-finger swipe, it starts a fling that will (apparently) continue sending mousewheel events for several seconds after I remove my fingers from the touchpad.
So if I happen to press Ctrl during that time, it's interpreted as Ctrl+mousehweel zooming. Unwanted random zooming. It's a bit annoying!
Workaround thanks to mjrosenb: Set pref mousewheel.with_control.action to 1.
