Treeherder is slower than TBPL when switching between repos, even if pinned

1) In a private browsing window, open https://treeherder.mozilla.org/ui/#/jobs
2) Open the repos menu and check the fx-team, mozilla-central, b2g-inbound repos.
3) Close the repos menu
4) Switch between the repos

Expected:
Similar speed to switching between repos in TBPL (eg <0.5s)

Actual:
Several seconds.
Btw - if the repo is pinned, are we retrieving state for it in the background (other than just the unclassified failure count and tree open/closed state), or is it just added to the tab switcher just for easy access?
