I can't reproduce this reliably, but on occasion, hitting the <del> key while in the composer will delete the entire previous paragraph (as opposed to the following character.) Besides making no sense at all, this can't be fixed with Undo. Grrr.

Ed - What build are you using? If you can give me reproduceable steps that would help tremendously, since I can't reproduce this. Did your paragraph end with styles (bold, italice, etc)?

I'm seeing this in mail/news ... my mistake in using 'composer' to mean 'mail composer.' :)
Ed - what is the build ID in the title bar of the browser you are using? If there is none, you can paste the Agent string displayed on the Help->About Mozilla dialog.
I'm running build 2001100408
I can confirm that this happens on Windows98 (SE) too, both in composer (at least 'normal view') and in the mail compose windows (Mozilla Build 2001101103; it already happend with a build some days older). I hesitated to file a bug because I don't know exactly how to reproduce this. I will describe a typical situation where this happened: There is a line with some (maybe four or five) words ("line A"). Below of this line are some empty lines, farther below is more text. If the cursor is at the end of line A and you use 'del' to get rid of the empty lines, in the moment the text below should "connect" to line A the hole paragraph is deleted. Note that you can't get it back with 'undo' and this is not the bug where the text is only deleted on screen and comes back if you minimize the window and then restore it - that is a different and not so serious bug. Yesterday this bug deleted a really large paragraph of an email I was writing and after that happend I finally decided to file a bug/search for this bug. Because this happens both in composer and mail/news compose windows and can't (I think) be undone I think this a rather serious dataloss bug. Platforms: At least Linux and Win98.
Same in Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.5) Gecko/20011012. Is this bug identical to 101690? pi
Ed and Fabian - I assume you are both using Plain Text Mail Compose right? If so, this is a dup of bug 101690 which I just posted a patch for. Please let me know.
Target Milestone: mozilla0.9.7 → mozilla0.9.6
Yes, forgot to mention explicitly that I use plain text mail compose. I never encountered the freeze mentioned in 101690, but maybe they are the same bug or both fixed by your patch, which would be great. We will see ;-)
I checked in a fix for bug 101690 this morning. It should appear in 10/19/01 trunk builds after 7am pacific time. Marking this as a dup. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 101690 ***
