When I open an IMAP mail account and leave the mail window untouched for a while, my dial-up router closes the internet connection. When I then select a message in the list in order to let it be displayed in the message pane, the message won't be displayed. The load indicator (mozilla logo top right) indicates load in progress infinitely. Is it possible that mozilla doesn't recognize that there is no connection open when it sends the IMAP commands? I haven't checked this with POP...
Marking these all WORKSFORME sorry about lack of response but were very overloaded here. Only reopen the bug if you can reproduce with the following steps: 1) Download the latest nightly (or 0.9.6 which should be out RSN) 2) Create a new profile 3) test the bug again If it still occurs go ahead and reopen the bug. Again sorry about no response were quite overloaded here and understaffed.

This isn't the same bug. Bug 81208 is about a timeout when trying to connect a creation. This bug is about having an application level-timeout when an existing connection fails.

Marking this as worksforme Using Moz 1.8a6 build 20050105 Testcase that I have used is: 1. open up connection to mail server (ssh tunnel) 2. open mozilla and read mail 3. let ssh connection timeout (same as if dialup router disconnected) 4. click on another mail message Result - after approx 1 second get a messagebox "Could not connect to mail server xyz; the connection was refused"
