Currently, this search engine dropdown only appears in New Tab.  It should appear in about:home soon.

Currently in Firefox, if a user hovers over a search engine in an in:content dropdown, no mouseover color appears.  Color #cde9fd matches the current color in about:preferences, so let’s use that in all platforms.  A subsequent bug will restyle the dropdown to be more consistent with about:preferenes in spacing, size,  and typography.

I think we should rather be consistent with the australis widgets. the about:permissions styling is platform specific, and should be converted to project chameleon.

Tim, you're absolutely right.  I filed this originally as a quick improvement that would be easier to implement that the full change, but it would be far better to fix the whole styling issue at once.  I went ahead and filed Bug 1037246 to do so and am closing this bug.

I think I'm reporting a similar bug on about:home. When using the search box on about:home, a mouse-over of suggested searches basically selects a new search. Unless you are very careful, moving the mouse to select a search engine other than your default will change your search. This gives the appearance of very poor performance. Suggest changing the search select for this page from mouse-over to a click, as happens in the toolbar searchbox... if I'm not mistaken.
