In linux, many addons for translate don't works, pass the selected text to the addon it seems to be the general problem, not from a specific addon, p.e with addon S3.Google Translator after selecting text it prompts for select text
In linux, many addons to translate text don't work, the addons don't recognize or take the selected text, i think is the general problem, not from a particular addon, e.g  with addon S3.Google Translator after selecting text it prompts 'First select the text'
These translator addons are running in the chrome process and will likely need to be fixed to read selected text from the web page in the content process.

The developer has been contacted through AMO.
As per IRC discussion: add-on was removed from AMO by author and was blocked due to security reasons anyway.
