Details

If you attach a file and then delete the file from the filesystem and then press either Send and then press OK, and empty attachment is send. If the user chooses to send the mail anyways the attachment info should be removed from the mail. This is also the way that OE works. It makes no sense sending a mail that contains an empty attachment. To reproduces: 1. Compose a new message 2. Attach file c:\temp\test.png 3. Go to your file commander and delete c:\temp\test.png 4. Press Send 5. Error is shown! 6. Press Ok 7. Mail is send 8. Read the mail and you can see an empty attachment (test.png) This is a spinof from http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68485

IMO, Mozilla should display a dialog telling user that the attachment is lost and wait for user to decide what to do: "send the mail anyway" or "go back to composition". A missing attachment may be due to 1) the user intentionally deleted it; 2) a programme (accidentally) deleted it; 3) another user (accidentally) deleted it (in a multi-user environment like WinNT or Unix)
Summary: Sending a mail with non existing attached file produces empty attachment → Sending a mail with non existing attached file hangs send window with "attaching ..." in status bar

Hi, Sorry for being pushy but it's been very disapointing that versions after versions (now 1.6a), a whole bunch of news features are poping up while long standing bugs are still not resolved when there are patches available !! Let me recall that since end of May, a patch has been send for bug #103819, #189174 and #157566 here http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=124311&action=view Still, it hasn't been included in the original source tree. While I agreed that this is not an issue for everyone, I do thing that for most Windows users this is a showstopper (at least it's the case for me where I work) Is there anyone out there willing to solve this or will Mozilla become so bloated with features that important bugs like this one won't be solved whatsoever ? Once again, sorry for being so direct and aggressive but this is so depressing that I'm more and more considering looking for alternatives. (again, not for myself since I use Linux but for the desktop configuration I setup at work)
