Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_9_4) AppleWebKit/537.77.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.0.5 Safari/537.77.4

Steps to reproduce:

*A Mac will be needed (currently using 10.9.4 as the operating system version).
*VoiceOver will be needed (indicated when to use in the steps).
*Indication of the screen reader's commands (control+option) will be abbreviated as "VO".

1. Open Instantbird, and go to Facebook chat (where this issue is discovered, although I wouldn't be surprised if it happens with other IM services, as its the chat history itself).
2. Click on a contact and chat for awhile, or if the history already has plenty, then proceed to the next step.
3. Turn on Voiceover with Command+F5.
4. Use VO+Left arrow to get to the "HTML content" area, or in other words the chat history. Interact by pressing VO+Shift+Down arrow.

Actual results:

VoiceOver lags when entering this history of chats.

Expected results:

VoiceOver interacts responsively into the history and navigation is smooth.
OS: All → Mac OS X
Summary: Lag when interacting with chat history in Instantbird for OS X. → [a11y] Lag when interacting with conversation with Voiceover on OSX
Version: trunk → 1.5
On the behalf of Florian:
Closing bugs related to the Instantbird UI as WONTFIX, as the development of the standalone chat client Instantbird has stopped. Instantbird users are encouraged to migrate to Thunderbird. The user interface of instant messaging in Thunderbird will feel familiar, as the Thunderbird IM support started as a fork of Instantbird.
