User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 SeaMonkey/2.26 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20140415200419 Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a Website, e.g. Amazon.com 2. Open the Search Form with Ctr+F 3. Search something, e.g. "video" 4. Close search field by clicking X on the right end of the search line 5. Click into Amazon search field 6. start typing continously 7. move the mouse to "Shop by Department" (left towards the Amazon search field) Suddenly you'll continue typing in the In-Text-Searchfield of Seamonkey. Note: I used Amazon because I was able to reproduce the problem there. I know that Amazon has some poor design itself concerning this issue and that the search field easily loses the focus. However you shouldn't end up typing in the serch field anyway, and also this problem will appear on other sites too. Actual results: suddenly you are typing in the page search field Expected results: you shouldn't type in the page search field unless you open it again on purpose
As pointed out to me just a day or two ago... > I've noticed that a lot too, and found out at amazon it's because I click > the field, then move my mouse left to not obscure the text I'm typing - > making it hover above their dropdown menu to the left of the search field, > which steals focus And probably related or the same as: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=215024 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=276295
If this also happens in Firefox then it's a toolkit Findbar problem.
