User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:34.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/34.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20140723030202 Steps to reproduce: Open about:preferences in a new tab. Zoom in or zoom out. Zooming in past 240% or out past 90% causes black bars to appear on the top or bottom, respectively, of the page. This occurred at both 1366x768 and 1920x1080 resolutions. This did not occur prior to this version. Actual results: Black bars appeared on the top when zooming in, black bars appeared on the bottom when zooming out. Additionally the black bar gets overlapped by the yellow help button in 1366x768 resolution. The bug did not happen in full screen. Expected results: No black bars should have appeared. The page should have remained white at the top and bottom.

I suspect this is a duplicate of bug 1041530, but I'm less sure because this doesn't seem to involve translateZ or YouTube. Roc?

The bug occurs on the newtab page (without the pinned thumbnails) as well. It occurs regardless of it youtube is open.
It probably is a dup. Please retest with the fix for 1041530 (it's on inbound now).

(In reply to theantispamllama from comment #2) > The bug occurs on the newtab page (without the pinned thumbnails) as well. > It occurs regardless of it youtube is open. Right. Can you retest against a current nightly? :-)

"Overflow" css property is causing Black bars on addons as well, install Tile Tabs on august+ firefox 34, open any focused new tab with + zoom(ex. Google with 133% zoom), black bar at the top can be seen for a second.

I can reproduce this on the bottom of a content window displaying an empty about:newtab page. STR: 1) visit about:newtab 2) set the zoom level to ~67% 3) disable new tab content by setting browser.newtabpage.enabled to false 4) restart 5) open a new tab I get a newtab page with the cog in the upper right, blank otherwise, and a large black bar at the bottom of the content window.

Quote from Tile Tabs developer: "Tile Tabs dynamically applies ‘oveflow: hidden;’ to <notificationbox> elements, which are outer containers for the browser stacks. I have tried changing Tile tabs to apply ‘overflow: visible;’ instead, and the black bars go away."

People are still seeing this on 35 (see dupe) - hopefully the patch on bug 1050159 will fix this...
