Details

Product: Browser and Composer

Component: Composer

Platform: PC

Operating System: Windows 95 OSR2

Build ID: Gecko/20011009 Netscape6/6.2

URL: Not Applicable

Desciption:
In Edit>Preferences, after opening the Advanced category and then opening the
Privacy & Security category, the Advanced category disappears.

Reproducibility: Every time

Steps to Reproduce:
IMPORTANT NOTE: Unless the steps below are followed exactly, to the letter, you
will not be able to reproduce this bug. It is VERY specific.

1. Open a new blank page to edit in Composer

2. Click Edit, then click Preferences.

3. Click on the arrow next to Advanced to open up that category.

4. Above Advanced click on the arrow next to Privacy & Security to open that
category.

Actual Results:
The Advanced category and all of its sub-categories disappear and will not
reappear unless you click on the arrow next to Privacy & Security to close that
category. Once Privacy & Security has been closed, you can reopen it and both
the Advanced category and all of its sub-categories as well as the Privacy &
Security category and all of its sub-categories will be displayed at the same
time.

Expected Results:
I would expect that the Advanced category and all of its sub-categories would
NOT disappear.
WFM W2K 2001101203.

But what I think is happening is that the Advanced items are moving below the
frame of the box and there are no scroll bars so that you can't see those items.
Then they "come back" when you close it because they move above the bottom frame
of the box.
I agree that "they "come back" when you close it because they move above the
bottom frame of the box."

However, like I said in the original report:

"Once Privacy & Security has been closed, you can REOPEN it and BOTH
the Advanced category and all of its sub-categories as well as the Privacy &
Security category and all of its sub-categories WILL BE DISPLAYED at the SAME
TIME."

Therefore, if you take it one step further and REOPEN Privacy & Security after
you "close it", you will see that it is possible to display both at the same
time. Also you shouldn't have to do all this to get the scrollbar to appear in
the first place. A scrollbar should appear as soon as the contents take up
more space than a window can display.
WFM on Linux and I get the scrollbars even.
