User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:34.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/34.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140724030201
Steps to reproduce:
This one has me stumped. I recently bought a Logitech c920 to improve the image produced by my old c610 webcam.
While the c610 worked with webRTC in both Chrome and Firefox as tested by going to https://apprtc.appspot.com/,
the c920 works fine in Chrome but fails in Firefox. Firefox turns on the camera but the image is black.
As I understand it, the c920 has on board H.264 hardware conversion built into the camera, which I don't believe is true for the c610.
I'm using Windows 8.1 desktop, Chrome 36.0.1985.125 m, Firefox 31.0.
Does anyone understand what is happening here?
Thank you.
Actual results:
Video image is black in Firefox.
Expected results:
Should see video image. (I do see video image in Chrome)

I just tried it on Nightly/34/Linux and Aurora/32/Windows7 (last Aurora before it went to Beta last week). A c920 works for me in both with http://mozilla.github.com/webrtc-landing/gum_test.html
It did *not* work for me on WIndows8.1/Aurora/32. So I think there's an OS issue involved

Randell, Thank you for that additional information. I had also tested using Nightly and found the bug to be present but I did not have a Windows 7 system available. I agree this is a Windows 8 problem. I am trying to what is going on with the OS interactions which would cause Windows 8 to break Firefox but not Chrome.
There used to be a similar bug (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=942284) which was solved with Firefox 29, causing "green snow" to show as video on Windows 8 / 8.1 with some Logitech cams.
I am using Logitech C510 and since Firefox 30, again, there is no more video, just a blank window.

I have been checking every now and then using Nightly and as of yesterday, Nightly 34.0a1, my problem seems to have been fixed. I'm not certain when this exactly happened but I can report that my Logicam is now working fine in Firefox under Windows 8.1 as of 34.0a1. Just to check, I did confirm that it still fails with the current general release, Firefox 31. Whoever made the repair, thank you!

Thanks for commenting, Scott! I believe the person to thank is Gian-Carlo (gcp on irc). I just added him to the cc of this bug. He fixed Bug 929431 which went to central on 8/18.
It sounds like we should consider uplifting his fix if it's not to risky to do so.

The person with the Logitech C510, can you check whether current Nightly also solves your problem?

Marking as Verified for Firefox 34 based on comment 4 and comment 7.
Scott, websites@posteo.de, do you guys think you could also give it a try with a Firefox 33 build (e.g. ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/33.0b1-candidates/build1/)?

Hi there!
My cam is working with that proposed 33.0 version above as well, current stable version 32.0 not yet. I hope this is of any help...
