“Training” may be (and in some places/partnerships definitely IS) causing an expectation of rote technical skill development & 1,2,3 instructional design. So I’m opening a conversation about re-branding.
Strategically, we are aligning ourselves with other open learning movements from p2pu (though all are different in important ways):
Creative Commons = School of Open
OKFN = School of Data
MIT/NWP = School of Ed
In the past we were School of Webcraft which didn’t serve us well b/c folks thought SoW only cared about technical skills. I suspect School of Webmaker (or Webmaking) would result in the same assumptions.
Perhaps we should simply call this program #TeachTheWeb? For better alignment with our kindred spirits, we might consider “School of” something, but I think the Verb the Noun strategy might be better.

i forgot to query if you thought simply:
community.webmaker.org would be a solution. Training, maybe, doesn't need a standalone brand?

Ok, so I think Teach the Web is the answer, it's the only one that doesn't require a complete rebranding (because it has the legacy aspect going for it), and it can be agile. Removing the explicit logo connection to Webmaker (as Maker Party does) means that we can grow to include things from other organizations and other Mozilla projects (like Mozilla Science) to create more cohesion in our highly diverse communities.
Sabrina has already provided a few lettering possibilities that MoFo design liked, so many we can just use the scribble to define a logo?
Is any one adamantly against this?
Hey -- Not opposed, but just wondering how we would package this. Teach the Web would be the name of the program, which offers resources, a platform, and...training? Development?

MY 2 CENTS: It seems like moving forward with the new tool the current webmaker.org is going to be much more specifically aimed at learners. So I think we should look at teach.webmaker.org (or teach.mozilla.org or whatever) as the 'go to' place for everyone else who is looking to teach at a variety of levels, and with a range of experience. I think #teachtheweb already has a strong and useful brand that we can capitalize on but as we look at rebranding "training" I think we should aim for something that would appeal more broadly to new and established teachers, and how we can integrate the "training" offerings with the other educational offerings currently on webmaker.org that we would want to move over to the new "teach" page.
Maybe we can brainstorm more about what we want the teach.webmaker.org (or teach.mozilla.org or whatever) to look like, who we want it to appeal/cater to, and what kind of offerings we want it to house as a way to help us figure out the brand for this whole section of educator-oriented products.
I love meetings so would be happy to jump on a call about this.
