This reminds me of bug 937878, though that was on Mac and so it may not be related. I also wonder if it's an OMTC thing.

I'm not able to reproduce anything like the rapid memory usage mentioned in comment 0 with a clean profile. I do see that after every 30 minutes or so of playing while minimized, memory usage has increased by ~50-75MB in both 32-bit and 64-bit builds of Firefox. The only thing that stands out to me in about:memory is gpu-shared memory, around 500MB in both 32-bit and 64-bit. heap-overhead is ~10-12%, which seems a little high. Everything else looks pretty normal. I can think of several next steps: - Obtaining an about:memory report (I understand this is difficult if memory usage is increasing rapidly); - Testing in safe mode on the reporter's machine, to eliminate any addons; - Bisecting the addons to try and figure out which one might be at fault. sg4-neuss, can you do at least the first two steps?

As stated in comment 3 the bug doesn't happen in safe mode. Another strange thing I just noticed is, the memory usage increase only shows on the Task Manager performance tab, because NO process shows any increase in memory usage (not even ff or the plugin Ok, it is related to HTML5 video playback. If I use Youtube with HTML5 video player enabled - Firefox memory usage increases. If I use Flash video playback - no memory increase.

i noticed this happening in firefox v35 too. Fresh installation(deleted old customization&profile from appdata) and the shared memory still leaks like crazy while minimized and playing mp4/html5 video, it happens on any site not only youtube. When the window is restored the memory usage returns to normal. Latest driver installed for both intel and nvidia gpus, latest updates for windows7. The strange thing is that this doesn't happen when i run in safe mode. But why? this is a fresh installation, no addons or themes or anything is changed from default. What else is changed when starting in safemode?

The memory leak seems to be related to the latest intel video driver. This doesn't happen when i start firefox with the nvidia card and neither to others with radeon cards(+latest video drivers). Or others with an old intel video driver. Strangely, the memory leak happens only in firefox(during html5 video while minimized), other applications have not suffered from this update.

It is happening to me with firefox 36, an nvidia gt 630 video (latest video drivers) card and hardware acceleration enabled. If i disable hardware aceleration memory consumption does not raise. However, i don´t have this problem with a radeon r9 270x video card (latest video drivers) and hardware acceleration enabled.
