As part of the MozID project (more details in bug 1047081), we would like to move from Open Sans to Fira Sans as our standard mozilla.org font. This should be sitewide, and should be ready to go live in conjunction with the State of the Web project on or around 11/15.

We can consider this a placeholder for now, but I'll be following up with more details soon.

[marking as private for now, as elements of this project haven't been approved yet, and want to hold off on sharing until they are...will remove that setting when the time comes.]

Hi Craig, Alex, and Jon-

Tim gave us verbal approval today to move forward with switching from Open Sans to Fira Sans as our font on www.mozilla.org.

This is no longer blocked by the MozID work.

I'd like to propose we wait until after the Nov 3 MOT launch date to make this change in order to minimize risk.

Thx,
Jen

Hi-

Let's do this in January.

And per a conversation with Jon and Craig at Mozlanod, let's investigate using font character subsets globally as part of this transition to see if we can improve performance by decreasing the size of font files.

Thx,
Jen

See bug 1351143 - New branding is moving back to Open Sans (eventually combined with Zilla) so this is no longer valid.
