i can not get this page to work too.
But it does not work with Netscape too.
It only works in IE but for IE server
returns special page with marquue tag (for mozilla/netscape
page include applet tag).
Moreover, i failed to find marquue.jar on www.ndtv.com at any
place i could imagine from frame source.
Class not found exception is raised for same reason.
Therefore, i propose to close this as not a bug.

Looks like this was a problem in 6.1, as well. Gonna PDT- this one. Pls let us
know, if you think we should reconsider.

http://www.ndtv.com was an example. There is a problem with applets in general,
other appets are loaded but alert is shown and class not found exception is raised.

Igor,
load the http://java.sun.com to see the problem.
An alert is thrown before loading an applet at http://java.sun.com/
i am removing PDT- from status whiteboard because this bug is a regression from
6.1 and was not seen before 10/17 builds.

Summary: applets not loaded → alert is thrown when loading applets

Reporter: be sure your system is setup correctly and you do a FULL install. I do
not see any problems loading any Java site with 0.9.4 builds from the night of
10/17. Tested on both W2K and RH 7.1.
However, I do see the orriginal problem in this bug about a class loading
exception. I've attched a testcase that is outside the firewall for Igor.
I also agree with Igor that this bug should either be marked INVALID or
reassigned to Evangelism. You get the same error in 4.x. I wonder if you played
around with the HTML markup if it could be made to work.

I just tried on windows 98 and Linux redhat 6.2 (commercial branch:
2001-10-17-18-0.9.4) and use "CUSTOM install". There's no problem loading
any java site at all. However, I do see the orginal problem in this bug for
windows 98 and linux redhat 6.2 by clicking on this url: http://www.ndtv.com
This also has the same problem on netscape 4.x as well.

Can one of you try to find the "marquee.jar" file on their server (maybe by
guessing the URL)? Open it up in Zip program and see if there is marquee.class
inside. If you are able to find this, we need to try to get Java to find it as well.

sivakiran: Which url did you visit when get these java console output?
could you please clarify the format of your screenshot file
or post screenshot converted to one of commonly used image formats?

This bug can be reproduced on Mac only. The sreenshot i attached opens in Mac.
java.sun.com also failed. Igor: i tried to change the screenshot to other format
but did not work, file does not even have extension.

Everything works fine for me on latest build with JRE 1.3.1-b24 on Solaris 2.8.
Both java.sun.com and www.ndtv.com shows up fine with all the applets working.
May it be the Mac only bug? Then we need to change Platform tag from All to
Macintosh.

For the most part all of the supplied testcases WFM.
http://bubblegum.mcom.com/ngdriver/suites/dom1/hapl003.html
Fails to load, spitting out a path security violation.
The remainder of the bubblegum links appear to work except the table display
indicates a result of "failed" with an Actual Result of "undefined" in each
case. These display success under OSX, but I'm not entirely clear on what this
is supposed to indicate.

Clicking this url from additional comment #19:
http://bubblegum.mcom.com/ngdriver/suites/dom1/hapl003.html
It loads fine on MAC OS 10.1. However, it fails on Mac os 9.2.
Screenshot is coming...
Below here is the error from java console window on os 9.2:
An exception occurred:

this is a mac 8-9.x specific bug and it is annonying to see the alert pop up
everytime you visit a page which has applets. The impact on users is moderate to
high. Is there any chance that the fix will land in for this release.

I have installed MRJ 2.2.5 and MRJ SDK 2.2 on Mac OS 9.2.
If I open sample applet of MRJ SDK 2.2, for example
MRJ SDK 2.2:Apple Applet Runner:Applets:DrawTest:example1.html,
there is no problem on 2002021303/Mac.
But DrawTest of MRJ 2.2.5 causes "Applet failed to load from URL:" error,
and MRJPluginAppletOutput shows:
MRJ Console Output.
MRJ Plugin Version: eerieQuarkDoll.v.b1
--------------------
[System.err] An exception occurred:

-----
Isn't it a problem of MRJ's version or
a problem of co-existance of MRJ and MRJ SDK ?
