Let's update the heatmap with wrap-up stats to share after the party ends. This static graphic will be featured on the post-party version of the site.

**Note: a complete redesign of the map is a nice-to-have. MVP we can just update the current design with final stats.

Amira, can provide a list of the stats you would like highlighted? Thanks!

I had this moment last night where I thought that including the top ten countries would be a good idea as there has been some fierce competition to have a lot of MP's in each area. Either just put the names or percentages.... thoughts?

One on hand I like the fun sense of competition in this idea. On the other hand, it would put the US at the top of the list, which negates the whole "global" vibe we're going for. Plus, after the US, India, Great Britain and Canada, the numbers drop off really sharply making the last 6 out of 10 seem like weak entries.

I wonder if that fun sense of competition could be expressed graphically, without actual country names or numbers.

The more that I think about it, the more I think trying to fit the "competition" theme into the graphic doesn't make sense. I think it's more appropriate as a friendly inside joke to be conveyed via emails and tweets, rather than in the summary graphic.

*WORK IN PROGRESS: colours, stats and text are for placement only! This proposed infographic is designed to work responsively and able to be localized which means it is not a static image - this made sense since the rest of the website would be. This mockup shows layout and composition of information. Icons are from FontAwesome.

*NOTE: we are missing that stat "# of Webmaker projects made" (I am not able to find this statistic) and text is TBD when ErikaD is back.

I am not sure what story it tells with these stats but I also feels like it further highlights the North American dominance of maker party participation and it feels like we are excluding the countries wit low numbers by doing so. It may be more meaningful to highlight countries that participated this year who have not the year before (to compare with 2013 stats, if we can do so) etc.

(visually including flags somehow do look nice though)

Just dropping some relevant FYI's into this bug.

The heatmap can (currently) be downloaded from https://party.webmaker.org/heatmap.svg in a format that's reasonably illustrator friendly, and its reasonably trivial to change colours and remove elements from it too.

Even though I'm off back to uni in a week feel free to ping/cc me on anything I can do to help with this after then ;)

I incorporated feedback from previous redpen in latest mockup and I got feedback from the mofo design group to help weigh in. The Maker Party logo felt redundant next to header and title (i.e. - maker party seen 3 times). If you need it to be used in blogs or social shares I can place it in. 

The text also has been simplified for localization purposes. Stats (#s and map) are placeholder until we have finalized numbers.

Hey Fuzzy,

Thanks for the awesome work you have done and for offering to help.  I was on PTO Monday so I missed your virtual farewell but I guess I will see you next month in London? :)

For the heatmap, I `wget https://party.webmaker.org/heatmap.svg` to download the file.  Sabrina said the heatmap looks so pixelated when she opened it on Illustrator.  Is there another way we should use to save the file?

I'll attach the file I saved.

Sabrina, if you are using the updated heatmap generated by Fuzzy (I put the file in Dropbox already) the stats were based on https://pastebin.mozilla.org/6521932. 

It would be great if we can confirm the numbers before we publish the infographics.

Sabrina: up to date numbers can be found at https://party.webmaker.org/event-stats . Technically, since we're counting up until October 31st we can't get final numbers until November 1st, but I suppose Makerparty is done, so the vast majority of events are done.

Bug 1068794 is about getting numbers for webmaker makes. :cade will do that!
