followup of bug 1023735

Users should be able to set date format separately regardless the language setting according to UX spec.
please put in backlog since it's in UX spec

I think it's done, at least on my v2.2 phone.

As Clément told me very correctly, we can decide the Time Format (with/without am/pm) but not the Date Format (eg month before/after day). So I'm reopening.

This came up for me when I noticed that the date format in the Email app is mm/dd/yyyy; and I'd *really* like to change it to dd/mm/yyyy, for example.
Maja, as a workaround, I think you can have dd/mm/yyyy if you chose the language "english (GB)" in Settings.
bug 1023735 has a PR that baked the date format, but to display that specific date format everywhere we need a new system API.

For AM-PM/24HR we created the navigator.mozHour12 shim, to support custom date we need to create another one.

Maja, if you just care about Email, to make things simpler, create an addon for email to change the date format could serve you well.
Firefox OS is not being worked on
