Maybe this is caused by OMTC. I'll provide more details as I discover them.

Turning off OMTC makes the problem go away. I see this on up to date drivers on Intel Ivybridge on Win7.

Presumably this is a problem with the initial (supposedly synchronous) composition that occurs. Any chance you could check this Jeff? I don't seem to be seeing it on AMD, NVidia or Intel here.

Is there code that should prevent the window from being drawn before we have content for it?
