I just saw a similar thing happen while scrolling through my Facebook news feed.

I just saw this while scrolling down on https://hg.mozilla.org/integration/mozilla-inbound/rev/390d478480f9 but I couldn't trigger it again afterwards. I missed the opportunity to take a screenshot, but the gray rect was about 250x100 device pixels big and located at the left edge of the page.
Tentatively blaming bug 982338.

It feels like this is maybe getting more prevalent (while scrolling through my Twitter feed). No other takers? Recent Nightly on ten-month old rMBP running Yosemite, so feels like it should be somewhat common.

Ping! Still happening for me. What can I do to help debug this?

This one is a bit convoluted, we're trying to sort out the impact of bug 1079996 and bug 1121164 and bug 1071769 on this.

Thanks, I'll take a look at those.

BTW, looking at the screenshots in bug 1079996, the color of my artifacts is definitely, and consistently different. Are these still the same bug?

FWIW, it feels like this is getting more common again, with the latest Fx 39 nightlies on a Mid-2014 rMBP with Intel Iris Pro graphics.

I get this on a vBulletin forum, different pages, such as within threads and on the index. Mid 2014 rMPB with NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB and FF39. I only started noticing it within the last couple of weeks, possible when I got the update to 39?
I got screenshots of it showing up twice on the same page after scrolling slightly; it looks like it's at the same vertical position in relation to the rest of the text/tables, but the width affected changes. I haven't gotten screenshots from other instances, but IIRC, they were all this color of grey, this same height, but varying widths.

FWIW, I think I haven't seen this in a while (on Nightly, Mid-2014 rMBP with Intel GPU).

Allison, would you mind trying the latest Nightly on your system to see if you get similar results to Dirkjan? You can get it from https://nightly.mozilla.org/.
