Details
I *love* that treeherder allows me to hide retries. While I care that these are happening, my primary interest is in telling if the build is good. I suggest that this is likely most people's interest in the build. With the count of retries always available in treeherder, I suggest that retries be hidden by default so that people can focus on the final test results.

I wonder if this could be best addressed with Treeherder user settings (a dropdown, cookies). This would address the use case (a one time cost to set your preference to hide retries) and everyone would be able to have the default behavior, or set any additional preferences.

Sheriffs actually want to see retries in many cases, so I think this is best fixed by the suggestion in comment 0. As a nice-to-have followup, we could also add a pref for suppressing retries unless they are runaway (eg 3+ in a row).
Summary: Hide retries by default → Remember between sessions which job results types should be hidden (eg retries)
