Reproducible on the latest Nightly 35.0a1(BuildID: 20140921030208)
Mozilla/5.0 (x11; Linux i686; rv:35.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/35.0
Steps to reproduce:
1. Set "Ask to activate" on each plugin (QuickTime, Silverlight, Shockwave Flash, etc).
2. Go to http://trailers.apple.com/
3. Select a video to play.
4. Select "Allow now" or "Allow and remember" option.
Actual results: The video doesn't play.
Expected results: The video plays correctly.
Note: This is an Ubuntu specific issue.

Hey cbadau - thanks for catching / filing this. Do we know if this is a regression from bug 899347, or did this problem exist before it landed? (Checking a build from, say, September 15th, should work to test).

I cannot say if this is a regression from bug 899347 because before it landed, the pop-up notification bar with "Allow now" and "Allow and remember" doesn't appear and the video doesn't work ("you get a gray background without the activate message/link"). e.g: On build from September 15th, the click-to-play doesn't work and also the video doesn't play.

Ok, this doesn't sound like a regression from bug 899347 then.
Still, we should try to figure out what's going on here.

Oh - wait, one final question - was all of your testing with browser.tabs.remote.autostart set to true? If so, does the video work with browser.tabs.remote.autostart set to false, using a non-e10s window (both with Sept 15 build and current Nightly)?

Yes, all my testing was performed with browser.tabs.remote.autostart set to true.
With browser.tabs.remote.autostart set to false, using a non-e10s window, the video work on Sept 15 build and current Nightly.

Using these steps, on Ubuntu 14.04, I see no issue on trailers.apple.com. The first time I was prompted for the install of some system level components. I installed those and reloaded the page, and everything played.
Would you mind retesting to confirm using the latest nightly?

Using the steps from the Description, I don't see issue on latest Nightly 36.0a1 (buildID: 20141116030212). It seems that trailers.apple.com works fine now (with browser.tabs.remote.autostart set to true).
I've tested on Ubuntu 13.10 32bit.
