Chatzilla should have a simple dialog box accessable via the file menu and
possibly ctrl-j which would send a /join #channel command to the server.

I don't understand the point of this.  Is it really easier to go through the
menu, click the Join Channel menuitem, and type the channel name in a dialog box
instead of just typing "/join channel"?

/join requires the user to know a command.  Remember, design for idiots. :)
In the browser there is an open location dialog box.  Some people have their 
reasons for using it instead of the location bar in the browser itself.

Ok, that kind of makes sense, although there is enough information in chatzilla
on how to do things. (Yes, they actually have to read a couple of lines of text,
and yes, I know a lot of people don't like that.)

Remove myself from QA of 33 open Chatzilla bugs and change to default QA
contact, since I have no way to verify these easily.  Still no working Mozilla
on my primary platform and it doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon. :(

Not sure I understand. Is this for an "open channel" dialog that would pop up a
dialog for the user to type a channel name, or an "open channel" dialog like the
one that pops up when you open mIRC?

This would be a dialog listing existing channels, and providing a "user
friendly" way to join them.

We need bug 233973 fixed before it'll work, though.

This feature will be available in the next ChatZilla release, 0.9.67.
