Adding a lock screen widget requires more work than adding a normal homescreen widget. We should investigate ways that we can advertise the widget, provide step-by-step instructions, or see if we can have Fennec add it to the lockscreen if the user clicks a button within Fennec. This bug is filed to do the investigations to see what is possible/what we should do.
Keep in mind, most phones ship custom lock screens. In some cases these don't even work (HTC I think?). In others they only work in special cases (Samsung only lets you do this if you don't have a lock set).

Widget is removed in 58+ and Android 5+ dropped support for widgets on the lock screen.
