It would help to detect regressions such as bug 1043358.
The attached test contains 16000 <mi> elements containing a single Latin, numeral or lowercase Greek character with a random mathvariant attribute, selected such that the MathMLTextRunFactory gets triggered every time.

great idea, we review suggested new tests a few times a year and are due to review the list. I have added this to our list!
